The Reality of the Orphaned in RussiaThere are about 748,000 orhpans in Russia.
80% of the orphans in Russia are "social orphans", those who have a living parent but have been removed from the home. In 2010, the Ministry of Education published their statistical data on the graduates of orphanages and state-run boarding schools: 50% fall into the category of at-risk groups, 40% end up involved in the criminal world, 33% become unemployed, 20% become homeless, and 10% commit suicide. -taken from the Institute of Modern Russia (IMR) webarticle http://imrussia.org |
The Reality of My Life in Russia Thanks to all of your giving in prayers and finances, I was able to spend 3 weeks this summer serving in a Russian summer camp for orphans. I traveled and served with the First Evangelical Russian Church of Shakopee, MN who organized the project with Hope4Orphans.
